USPS® Intelligent Mail barcode (IMb™) management
The Intelligent Mail barcode (formerly known as the 4-State Customer Barcode) is the next generation of USPS barcode technology used to sort and track letters and flats. Intelligent Mail barcode software, among other things, combines the capabilities of the POSTNET™ barcode and the PLANET Code® barcode into one unique barcode.
Beginning January 2014, mailers will be required to use Full-Service Intelligent Mail software for automation discounts, and will be required to use eDoc to upload all paperwork to PostalOne!®
Despite previous plans to require certification of all mailers, TEM testing and approval of mailers is not currently required for Full-Service mailers using eDoc certified vendor software. However, mailers may still want to go through the TEM process to mitigate any potential issues and ensure a smooth transition to the new process.
